Resource groups are becoming more prevalent as the workplace culture shifts to create a more diverse and inclusive environment.

ERG (Employee Resource Group) and BRG (Business Resource Group) are the most widely used terms to describe these groups within organizations. We’ve written previously about ERGs. These groups are led and joined by employees with similar interests, backgrounds, or experiences. Their primary purpose is to serve as a source of innovation and offer support and guidance in personal or professional growth. BRGs are still committed to fostering diversity and inclusion but with a more business-oriented approach.

Resource groups allow employees to connect with others who share certain commonalities, so does it matter what name you give them? Yes and no. The choice of terminology can impact perceptions both internally and externally. However, what matters most is not the label but their impact on the employees. Whether it’s an ERG, BRG, or other employee network, the key is to foster a sense of belonging, provide valuable resources and support, and ultimately create an organization where every employee can bring their whole selves.

And that’s where iDisability can help. By fostering a deeper understanding of disabilities through our modules, we can empower organizations and their resource groups to create a genuinely inclusive environment.

Over 4 million business users representing various industries trust us to help them build workforces where every employee feels valued and can contribute their full potential. We can help you unlock the power of an inclusive workplace. Discover how.
